A gathering place and recreational complex
At the heart of the Tri-Villages on northern Hatteras Island is the Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building, a gathering place and recreational complex designed to enhance the quality of life for the residents and visitors in the communities of Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo. From voting to recreating and celebrating to learning and fundraising, this is where things happen in the Tr-Villages. We serve as a gathering place to facilitate community spirit.
Per designation of the North Carolina State Legislature, the RWS Community Building is a community center district funded by ad valorem taxes and run by a nonprofit board of directors. By law, the community center is for the use and benefit of all residents of the district. It provides a polling place for special and general elections and facilities for the health and welfare of the residents and community interests. Funds collected from the ad valorem tax for the RWS Community Building are for the sole purpose of maintaining the building, property and on-site recreational facilities.

Rodanthe-Waves-Salvo Community Building
Newly remodeled inside and out, the community building includes a gathering hall with a stage, restrooms and a full-service kitchen.
Rodanthe Skatepark
Known as Graveyard Run, the 7,000-square-foot skatepark features plenty of obstacles and street features. The park is lighted until 10 p.m.
Pavilion
Shaded pavilion with picnic tables
Playground
All-ages playground with a pirate ship, a tunnel, slides, swings and climbing equipment.
Basketball Court
Paved basketball court available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your own ball.
Pickleball Court
Pickleball is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your own net, paddles and ball.
Restrooms
Restrooms are available indoors at events and outdoors at all times.
